Geography Intent
The intention of the Geography Curriculum at Rabbfsarm Primary School is to inspire children’s curiosity and interest to explore the world that we live in and its people, which aims to ignite a love of learning.
Being taught locational and place knowledge, about the human and physical features of the world, alongside geographical skills and fieldwork, will prepare our pupils to live and thrive in the ever-changing world we live in. Geography is essentially about understanding the world we live in, through our teaching, we aim to provoke and provide answers to questions about the natural and human aspects of the world and their place in it. Geography is, by nature, an investigative subject, a subject that develops an understanding of concepts, knowledge and skills.
At Rabbsfarm, when teaching Geography, our intent is to develop knowledge and skills that are progressive and transferrable to other curriculum areas, ones that can and are used to promote their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
Our Geography curriculum is designed to ensure that teaching equips our pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. Our pupils will acquire and apply key skills through structured and first-hands on experiences linked to our creative curriculum.
The Geography curriculum at Rabbsfarm engages our children and inspires them to become enquiring, independent, challenging thinkers. With current and ongoing issues our world is facing, we educate our pupils so that they become compassionate citizens that care about our Earth. We encourage children to become active global citizens with the confidence to use, and build on their cultural capital, learning and experiences throughout their time at Rabbsfarm Primary School, in to their further education and in the wider world.
